I thought this a good idea for a host of reasons. Not everyone can spend $2000 total on a carbine. Not everyone can have a long rail or the latest optic because of various reasons, so I'm going to setup the most affordable fighting rifle I believe in and would take to a fight and show how I do it.
$100
$850
$40
$50
I'm using a lower that I had, but a good quality lower can be found for $350 or so.
Total- $1390 ready-to-shoot. Stayed tuned for more......

Is there an online retailer that you recommend?
Are you reverting back to the tlr1 from the tlr3 or did you just have a light on hand. Thus far I have to agree with you that the 3 does most everything the 1 does and you lose little in a home defense setting. Metal is nice but why have the extra weight when you might not need it?
Kyle,
If you're keeping the FSP, what rail do you like to use? Or is it better to ditch the FSP?
Thanks
If you had to pick a prefered rail length for a 15.4" barrel, what would it be?
$350 for a lower? I spent $140 after tax and DROS for a spikes. It works perfectly. All the LPK pieces fit nicely and they are manufactured by the same company that makes the Bushmaster lowers. Only difference is the roll mark.
FSP. Hell yea! Always there and nothing else on the planet says U-S-A on a battle rifle like the FSP. True. rail options get tricky if you're running mid length, but I can't shake my attachment to it.
